I'd been dreaming of visiting Ilocos Sur for the past few years but never had the opportunity to really go there. Part of the reason probably is that I can't seem to convince any of my friends to go there because of its location. Travel time can take you around 10 to 12 hours. Lucky if you don't get stuck in traffic along the way.
Ilocos Sur is in the northern region of the Philippines. Its capital, Vigan City, is popular for its Spanish colonial houses. These are the same houses that keeps on appearing on Filipino movies when they have to showcase Spanish colonial times. Ilocos Sur is also known for its good beaches such as Cabangtalan, and Pug-os around Cabugao. Some of the people I know at work who have been there glee to excitement everytime they share their stories of their trip to Ilocos Sur.
I probably need to decide now before its too late. I don't want to go there in my 60s! I should do it pretty soon. Thanks to Mon of Digital Photography Philippines for sharing these lovely pictures (strifemon.multiply.com).
