Because our planet is in the brink of climate change its but proper for the governments of the world to encourage, if not enforce, its citizens to use fuel-efficient, hybrid or green cars with less CO2 emissions. I myself am guilty of buying a car just because of its looks and did not consider about how much carbon dioxide it would contribute to the worsening climate. But now, I believe that as citizens of the world, we are called upon to do our part in making sure that our lifestyle and activities wouldn't go against our collective effort to saving the environment.
Cars are among the highest producer of atmospheric carbon dioxide. Car manufacturers have long debated the ideal car model that would help alleviate effects of global warming and develop green cars that are fuel-efficient and do not produce much carbon dioxide each time people operate them.
Hyundai is among the car manufacturers out there that is actively seeking for innovative ways to reduce its car's CO2 emissions. Its effort to produce green cars is lauded both by governments around the globe and concerned citizens. Hyundai has recently participated in the Global Green Challenge featuring its Santa Fe R model. Hyundai's Santa Fe R Diesel car model was noted to having consumed less fuel (10% less from its counterparts in other brand SUV brands), 275 more powerful than the average SUV, has a strong fuel mileage of up to 1,200 kilometer (single tank), automatic (push button) start/safe reverse technology, outstanding safety features (5 star ANCAP safety), with around 7% less CO2 production.
You may want to check out this Youtube video http://www.youtube.com/user/HyundaiSanteFeAUS where you can find more information about the Global Green Challenge where Hyundai Sta Fe R topped other SUV class while travelling from tough-and-rough road of Darwin to Adelaide (Australia). Hyundai Sta Fe R is a proof that we can have powerful cars but still consumes less fuel and are less harmful to the environment.
